Tata Business Excellence Group (TBExG) conducted a series of Safety Leadership Workshops for Tata Projects in August and October 2015. This series of Safety Leadership Workshops, which included one workshop for CXO-level executives and two workshops for middle managers of the company, was conducted at Hyderabad and Noida. The workshop conducted for the top management and CXO-level executives drew over 30 participants, including Mr Vinayak Deshpande, MD, Tata Projects. The two workshops that were organised for middle managers attracted a participation of 70 Tata Projects employees.
The various topics covered in these workshops included Risks, Policies, Beliefs, Standards, Construction Safety, Leadership, Behavior, Safety Observation & Human Factors, Effective Communication & Reporting, Introduction to Incident Investigation and Safety Culture Maturity. These were customised according to the participants of the workshops and their areas of expertise.
According to Mr Suresh Tanwar, Chief – Group Safety & Health, TBExG, “The session with the senior leadership team was very engaging and fruitful. It is going to help in giving the right impetus to achieve Safety Excellence at Tata Projects.”
The engagement with Tata Projects was executed with a view of enhancing the safety standards and culture prevalent within the company, and also suggest the way forward to further develop safety awareness among various levels of employees. TBExG planned the safety workshops for three management levels of Tata Projects, namely:
- Safety Leadership Workshop for the Top Management
- Essentials of Safety Leadership for the Middle Management
- Hazard Recognition for Site Level Staff
As of now, the programs for the Top Management and Middle Management have been conducted and workshops programs for Hazard Recognition are being scheduled. The workshops were well received and extremely beneficial to the participants in terms of some key takeaways.
